I stayed at the newly renovated Phirima Lodge in Black Rhino in June 2026, and what an amazing experience it was.
From the moment we arrived, the welcome, reception and attention to detail were exceptional. The lodge is beautifully finished and luxurious, with several wonderful indoor and outdoor relaxation and social areas, a stunning bar, beautiful pool and boma, and a fully equipped kitchen with top-quality appliances and everything you could possibly need.
Our room was exceptionally comfortable and private, with a quality bed and linen, air-conditioning, ceiling fan and beautiful ambient lighting. The bathroom was exquisite, while the private outdoor shower, candles and soft lighting created that wonderful feeling of being right in the African bush without sacrificing any luxury.

We absolutely loved our stay at Phirima Lodge in June 2026. We were greeted by a hippo sighting at the dam on the way to the lodge and it only got better from there.
The Lodge is beautifully appointed with a modern, ethnic design. The main lodge area is very comfortable and very well equipped with new appliances and cutlery.
The 4 chalets all have a different theme, and the interiors are modern with stunning bathrooms as well as an outdoor shower.
We went on an afternoon drive on the first day and saw a great variety of animals including elephants and Black Rhino and some wonderful bird sightings.
Our drinks stop reminded us of why we love Africa, enjoying a G&T and witnessing a magnificent sunset.

We were a group of four couples who enjoyed a memorable six-night stay at the newly renovated Phirima Lodge from 11-17 August 2026.
The Pilanesberg delivered an exceptional Big Five wildlife experience, made even more special by the knowledge and guidance of Jason Cordier, the lodge's game ranger and manager. Among our highlights were watching a lion chase a herd of buffalo and encountering a magnificent male leopard feeding on a zebra.
For birding enthusiasts, the Pilanesberg is equally impressive, with an outstanding diversity of birdlife. The newly renovated lodge itself was superb. From the stunning entrance and beautiful solid tree-trunk dining table to the spacious covered patio, every detail creates a wonderful setting for relaxing, enjoying meals and sharing drinks while surrounded by the African bush. Evenings around the fire pit added a truly authentic African bush experience.

Our stay at Phirima was nothing short of spectacular. Inside, the expansive living area strikes the perfect balance between bush charm and modern luxury, featuring a sleek custom bar, fully equipped kitchen and a massive dining table perfect for long dinners.
Having our own personal ranger and private game drive vehicle was a massive highlight. We loved the flexibility of taking shorter, beautifully quiet drives within the exclusive Black Rhino Reserve, while still having the ability to head into the main Pilanesberg National Park for longer safari adventures.
